Details

Jia CURATED 2026 is a cross-disciplinary programme centred on craft, design and culture, developed around the theme “Nature Weave”. The theme explores the interwoven relationship between people and the natural world, with a focus on biophilia, natural systems, material intelligence, well-being, coexistence, and less extractive forms of creative practice. The programme is also shaped by Gotong Royong, the Indonesian principle of communal collaboration, and is structured around exhibitions, talks, installations and creative initiatives.

The event addresses designers, artisans, architects, makers, brands, creative communities and audiences engaged with contemporary craft, architecture and cultural production. Its exhibition platform brings together local and international participants across product design, architecture, construction, materials, art, landscape, interior design, manufacturing and craftsmanship, hardware and fixtures, textiles, soft furnishings, fragrance and scent. It also highlights emerging and established designers, artisans and Asia-Pacific brands working with original, handmade or partly handmade craft-based work.

A key component is the 360° Design Dialogues, curated by Design Anthology, which focuses on inclusive design discourse, underrepresented voices, collaboration and wider perspectives on design practice. Listed topics include craft in contemporary design, textile innovation, curatorial practice, architecture, waste, art and architecture, and the business of design. Confirmed panellists include Bethan Laura Wood, designer and founder of Studio Bethan Laura Wood; Aryenda Atma, co-founder of Pable; Elaine Ng, director and founder of The Fabrick Lab; Tiffany Loy, designer and founder of Tiffany Loy Studio; Charmaine Chan, design editor at Post Magazine and author of Courtyard Living; and Suzy Annetta, founder and publisher of Design Anthology.

Other programme highlights include Architecture in Scale, curated by Charmaine Chan, which presents architectural maquettes by 25 studios from Indonesia and wider Asia. Listed participants include Abimantra Pradhana and Osrithalita Gabriela of AGo Architects, Alexis Dornier, Andra Matin, Bill Bensley, Elora Hardy of IBUKU Studio, and Kengo Kuma of Kengo Kuma & Associates. Waste to Wonder examines discarded materials and low-tech techniques as foundations for functional, community-oriented sustainable design. Project Benih focuses on cross-cultural exchange involving Indonesia, Japan and Taiwan, with listed designers including Alvin Tjitrowirjo, Budiman Ong, Chang Po-Chieh, Chialing Chang, Denny R Priyatna, Jin Kuramoto, Sae Honda, Shikai Tseng and Shogo Kishino. Lamitak is identified as a partner, with a pavilion installation developed in collaboration with DDAP Architect.

Through these strands, Jia CURATED 2026 positions craft and design as tools for environmental reflection, cultural exchange and more considered approaches to making and living.
