Snøhetta
Architectural Practice
Snøhetta is a global transdisciplinary design practice founded in 1989, working across architecture, landscape architecture, interior architecture, art and product design on projects ranging from small-scale objects and materials to buildings and urban masterplanning. Serving cultural, science and commercial contexts, it focuses on creating places that strengthen connections between people, their surroundings and the wider world through a dialogue-driven, non-hierarchical studio culture. The practice operates seven studios across four continents and employs about 250 people from 40 nations, combining traditional craftsmanship with advanced technology in its design process. Sustainability is central to its approach, framed through environmental, social and governance priorities and supported by an ambition for all projects to be carbon-neutral within the next 15 years. Its portfolio includes Bibliotheca Alexandrina, the Norwegian National Opera and Ballet, and the National September 11 Memorial Museum Pavilion, as well as a broad record of international awards.
