Practice
Heavy Industries is a Calgary, Alberta-based creative placemaking and fabrication practice founded in 2003 that works with owners, developers and architects to design and deliver public art, architectural elements and landscape features for built environments and new communities. Its core offerings include sculpture and public art, cladding, entrance and architectural features, playgrounds, landscape interventions and expressive stairs, supported by services such as curation, concept development, cultural and historical research, digital modelling, prototyping, fabrication, installation and project management. The company focuses on translating creative ideas into technically feasible, mixed-material projects with a high standard of fit and finish, aiming to create bold experiences that strengthen connections between people and place. Heavy Industries describes itself as a collaborative, inclusive team and has grown from a garage start-up to a team of more than 70 staff.
