Sydney Design Week’s 29th edition centres on the theme of “Community Design,” highlighting the role of design in fostering connection, resilience, and cultural identity amid ongoing societal change. The program is structured around a series of talks, tours, and industry workshops, and is intended for a broad audience of architects, artists, creative leaders, and community practitioners. A key focus this year is deepening engagement with Western Sydney by collaborating with local community leaders and practitioners to showcase the region’s contemporary culture.

The event features contributions from notable figures, including Pritzker Prize-winning architect Francis Kéré; Daina Cunningham, co-director of Incidental Architecture; Li Hu and Huang Wenjing of Open Architecture; architectural photographer Iwan Baan; Thai landscape architect Kotchakorn Voraakhom; Professor Elizabeth Mossop of Living Lab Northern Rivers; Phillip Birtles from Sydney Water; and Choi Studio director John Choi. Sydney Design Week facilitates knowledge exchange on how design can shape ethical and inclusive communities, offering industry professionals and wider audiences access to leading voices in international and local design practice.
