Details
Centred on community collaboration and sensory engagement, the Sunnyside art experience’s current feature is Chasing Sunbeams, a site-specific installation by UK artist Morag Myerscough. The installation explores vivid colour, large-scale motifs, and immersive elements, co-created with the Ballarat community to reflect local stories and identities. The project includes contributions from local artists Siobhan Finn and Tegan Crosbie (Fontella – The Zine Machine), textile artist Pauline O’Shannessy‑Dowling, and interactive arts practitioner Carly Pitts (Pittywitty), as well as an original soundscape composed by Raul Sanchez i Jorge.
Situated within Ballarat’s cultural precinct, the event is designed for broad public engagement, with an emphasis on storytelling, creative workshops, and participatory art-making. The collaboration between a leading international artist and local creatives highlights the value of community-driven projects in fostering regional cultural development and enhancing connections to place through collective creativity.
