Details
Centred on the realities of emerging architectural practice, Parts of Practice focuses on the distinct components of architectural production and representation rather than singular project outcomes. Addressing early-career practitioners in Australia, the exhibition showcases young practices whose work spans various building types and contexts. It is organised by mode of representation—models, drawings, photographs, ideas, and reference objects—rather than by firm or project, presenting a cross-section of how work is conceived, tested, and communicated.
Participating practices include Zuzana and Nicholas, Lineburg Wang, Retallack Thompson, Anthony St John Parsons, Youssofzay Hart, Brunsdon Studio, Trower Falvo Architects, James Bowman Fletcher, Eldridge Anderson and Prior Barraclough. The exhibition design is by Maximilian Bufardeci, with photography by Ben Hosking, and support from Tensys Engineers, Ronstan Tensile Architecture and Fielders Steel. By foregrounding representation as a lens on making, teaching and testing, the exhibition provides architects and allied design professionals with a concise survey of approaches used by early practices in Australia, underscoring how methods of representation inform contemporary architectural work.
